Mary's church gave a delightful social, card party apd luncheon at St. Mary's hall Wednesday evening. The affair attended by fully two hundred people and was one of the most enjoyable ever given by the society. There were thirty tablcn at pedro, and three prizes were offered. Miss Katie Fergus won the ladles' prize, a China coffee urn; Peter Dlngeman won the gentleman's prize, a smoking set; James Dee won the booby prize.

After the prizes were awarded, the luncheon was served at the tables about the hall. The menu was not only a nice one, but the service of the ladles was charming. AT PROSPECT The FiniCral of James Decker Occurs Wednesday. James Decker of Columbus, formerly a resident of Prospect, died Monday at the Capital City from the ravages of consumption, from which he had been a sufferer for some time. Mr.

Decker was a comparatively young man and leaves a wife and ff.mlly. He was a son of James Decker of Prospect, The funeral occurred at Prospect Wednesday, the remains being interred in the Prospect cemetery. FOR THE PRESENT The Cemetery Trustees Will Not Ap point a Superintendent, Tho Marlon cemetery trustees will not appoint a superintendent for the Marion cemetery at once. A superintendent must be chosen, hut the trustees desire to secure as good a man as the late John Wilson, If possible. This they believe will be difficult to ac complish.

THOMAS MADE MODERATOR DiKtinguiHhed Divines Are Present for the Two-Day Session At the Same Time the Woman's Presby-terlal Missionary Society Holds a Convention Marionltes Present. The annual session of the Marion Presbytery and the annual meeting of the 'Woman's Presbyterial Missionary society of the Marion district baa been going on at Marysville for the past two days. Mrs.

W. E. Butcher of this city Is the president of the society. The masting was held in the Presbyter-Ian church of that city. There was present about one hundred delegates and members from all parts of tbe district.

The meeting closed Wednesday night with a general lecture on missionary work by Rev. John M. Kile, a prominent Presbyterian missibnary of Brazil. Besides Mr3. Butcher, the following Marion ladies were in attendance: Mrs.

S. E. Barlow, Mrs. W. L.

Warner, Mrs. O. WT. Weeks, Mrs. Will Krause, Mrs.

Emma Shaw, Mrs. S. E. DeWolfe and Miss Kate Fies. The Maribn Presbytery held its sessions in the Presbyterian and Congregational churches, and all of its sessions were well attended and highly interesting.

A great deal of church business wa3 transacted. The Presbytery almost unanimously voted to combine with the district. This move has been discussed for some time, and a committee was appointed to consummate the combination. Rev, W. E.

Thomas of this city- was elected moderator for the ensuing yer.r. There will be an adjourned meeting of the Presbytery at Delaware May 1, and there will be a meeting at Iberia during the autumn months. Among the prominent speakers present were Rev. A. D.

Columbus; Rev. I. Revennan, Allegheny City, Rev. Hugh Scott, Athens. CITY OF MARION May Possibly Have a Base Ball Club This Year.

There Is still much talk of a base ball club for Marion this season. Manager Perry of the fairground say3 that he expected to see an Independent club organized here, but was not certain as yet who would be the manager. John McAdanut of Urbana, however, has about fully decided to locate In Marlon with it billinrd hall, and if he does there is but little doubt but what he will be at the head of a local team. The city was without street car service and electric lights for a time Wednesday night owing to an accident at the electric light and power sta Hon. New York Store. BARN BURNED. Los Occurs on the William Thew Farm Near Caledonia. A barn on the farm of William Thew, who resides near Caledonia, was burned to the ground Wednesday night about 11 How it caught is unknown. A surrey was also consumed by the 'flames.

Mary's church on Wednesday, May 2, Instead of May as announced. Kelly Company will commence work on the George street sewer next week. At the sama time a sanitary sewer will be constructed over the larger ditch. As soon as the new boiler department of the Huber shops opens, several of the water tube boilers of the Ilurke brothers will be manufactured. The demand for these boilers is growing.

City Engineer Scott has commenced the work of the completion of the sidewalks on which construction was started last fall. Mr. Scott hopes to bf.ve them all finished by the time he retires from office, May.l. The Republican members of the now city council will commence the construction of its final slate this evening. This is expected to be the final caucus, and when the body meets Friday night it will be ready to make its appointments, i A.

F. McNeal of this city has been made a member of the committee on constitution by the Phi Kappa Psi fra ternity which is holding its general convention in Columbus thta week. The committee is one. of the most important in 4he work of the society. The contract for the remodeling of the Evanselleal Protestant church will be let early in May.

The plans and specifications have been approved and the money subscribed. It is the inten tion to await until the arrival of Rev. Herman Freer, the new pastor, before the contract Is let. This was the desire of Rev. A.
